Brochure Module: Maps

Maps do a lot of work in a brochure, from showing where a property sits to plotting comps, retailers, and points of interest. This article covers adding a map page or map module, customizing pins, adding nearby retail, and where to adjust the maps that are still generated outside the builder.

Where Maps Appear

Maps already show up in several places in the system:

  • Rent comps map with pins for each comp and the subject property

  • Sales comps map with the same setup

  • Market Overview maps, including nearby employers

  • Location map for the property

Comp and employer maps are currently auto generated on legacy pages. These will move to the map module soon, which means full customization in the builder.

How To Add a Map

Option 1) Adding a Map Page

  1. In the Page Builder, add a page and choose a map page from the blank page layouts.

  2. Pick the layout you want:

    • Single map

    • Map with text on the left

    • Map on top, text on the bottom

    • Full bleed map spanning the entire page

    • Map with an overlaying image

  3. Name the page (for example, "Location Map").

Option 2) Adding a Map Module to Any Page

  1. Click Add Module.

  2. Select Map.

  3. Place it on the grid and resize as needed.

Map modules support the same options as every other module: border, background, layout, padding, width, height, and position.

Navigating the Map

The map behaves like a standard Google map.

  • Click and drag to reposition.

  • Scroll with a trackpad or mouse to zoom in and out.

  • Use the map controls in the bottom right for zoom in, zoom out, and directional arrows.

  • Click the recenter icon to snap the map so the pin sits in the center.

2D vs. 3D

Switch between 2D and 3D in the bottom panel.

  • 2D: you can also change the terrain style.

  • 3D: adds tilt and rotation controls on top of the standard navigation.

More design styles for both 2D and 3D maps are on the way.

Working With Pins

Click the pin to open its options.

Position and text

  • Click and drag the pin to reposition it.

  • Click the edit icon to change the pin text.

Pin content

Choose what the pin displays:

  • Text only

  • Logo only

  • Logo and text

For points of interest, logos populate automatically. For your subject property, upload a property photo into the logo slot so the pin shows both the property image and the property or street name.

Global vs. per pin: pin settings default to Global, which governs every pin on the map. Adjust global settings in the bottom bar, or override them on an individual pin.

Adding and removing pins

  • Add: search an address (for example, "460 Sutter Street") and drop a pin at that location.

  • Remove: click the three dots on the pin and delete it.

Building a Retailer or Points of Interest Map

  1. Add a map page and position the map over the area you want to show.

  2. Click Show me nearby retail.

  3. Click any retailer pin to add it to your map. Logos populate automatically where available.

  4. Use the category filters to pull in other point of interest types:

    • Retail

    • Food and beverage

    • Entertainment

    • Health and fitness

    • Healthcare

    • Education

    • Transit

  5. Style the added pins using the same pin options above.

Reusing Maps With Saved Pages

You don't need to add pins before saving a map page as a template.

  1. Build the page and place your map module.

  2. Style the map the way you want it.

  3. Save it to Saved Pages and use it in your outlines.

When that page loads on a future deal, the map loads with the pin for that subject property and keeps the styles you set up.

Customizing Legacy Maps (For Now)

Until these move into the builder, adjust them where the data lives.

Employers map: go to Market Overview on the deal, open the Employment category, then:

  • Zoom and reposition the map

  • Edit employers, paste in your own data, or add them manually

  • Pull new employer data with AI, the census database, or a combination

  • Click Save new map zoom and position to lock in how it renders in the brochure

Sales and rent comp maps: open your Sales Comps or Rent Comps, adjust the comps and the map view, then click Save new map zoom and position. That view is what appears on your comp map page.

All of this becomes editable directly in the Brochure Builder with the upcoming builder release.
